Biography:

Born in Venice, Italy in 1972. Her father, Aldo, was obsessed with the African-American jazz singer Billie Holiday, and as such he chose to name his first and only child after her. The family moved to Boston before Billie’s first birthday, hoping to achieve a better life for themselves. Billie's mother, Emiliana, was a stay at home mother who barely spoke any English. Aldo's proficiency in the language was enough to get him a low-paying job in a factory.

Billie lived a relatively normal childhood for being in a low-income Italian-speaking family. Her father loved vintage anything, and Emiliana often complained that he lived in the past. However, Billie shared her father's love for all things old-fashioned. She plastered her bedroom walls with pictures of Bette Davis, Jane Greer, Lana Turner, Marilyn Monroe, Bettie Page, and Rita Hayworth. Billie loved jazz and often played her father's records until they were worn out. She wanted to be a famous movie star and model some day, just like her idols.

However, Emiliana wouldn't hear of it. She was a traditional Italian woman and said that she didn't come to America so her daughter could waste her life living in sin. She wanted Billie to go to college and become a doctor or a lawyer in the Land of Opportunity. Aldo told Billie that she could do whatever she wanted -- after all, isn't that what America is about?

Billie took her father's words to heart and dropped out of high school at 17. She left her home in Boston and went to New York, looking for work. She wound up starting her career in nightclubs, trying to incorporate the old-fashioned pin-up look she loved so much. It soon became her signature, and after working for a few months in the clubs, she caught the eye of a photographer who loved her look. Billie eagerly agreed to work with him and the pair of them created a series of 1940s and 50s inspired photos. The young woman lost contact with her parents during this period of her life. Her mother now refuses to talk to her, but Billie has regular correspondence with Aldo.

Billie has been doing photo work, fashion shoots, and nightclub shows ever since. She has played bit roles on camera but hopes to expand her talents to the big screen. That’s why she came to Corona Island.
